In a recent government meeting, officials announced plans for significant improvements to the Heritage Dells playground, with a pop-up meeting scheduled for September 11 to gather community input. The event aims to attract families, particularly after school hours, to discuss the playground replacement program and share concepts for the new design.
The project is described as a two-tiered initiative, which includes not only the playground replacement but also essential irrigation work. While the irrigation aspect may not generate as much excitement, officials emphasized its importance for the overall park improvement.
The current playground, which has served the community for approximately 27 years, has been prioritized for replacement due to its age and the maintenance required to keep it safe. Monthly inspections ensure the safety of all playgrounds, and Heritage Dells has been identified as needing an upgrade.
Officials indicated that they have already begun discussions with playground installers and are aiming to start construction by the end of the year. They plan to present several design concepts at the upcoming meeting, reflecting current trends in playground design, which increasingly incorporate natural play elements and climbing features.
Future improvements are also planned for other parks, including Ulysses, New Loveland Mine, and White Ash Mine, with budget submissions already in place for these projects. The community is encouraged to participate in the upcoming pop-up meeting to help shape the future of the Heritage Dells playground.
