During a recent government meeting, the Mason High School community celebrated a unique tradition that has blossomed since its inception in August 2020. The initiative, which allows seniors to personalize their parking spots with artwork, has become a cherished event that showcases student creativity and individuality. This tradition emerged in response to the emotional challenges faced by students and families during the pandemic, particularly after the cancellation of the spring sports season.

Former principal Bobbie Dodd approved the idea, leading to a vibrant community celebration each summer where seniors express their personalities through their designs. The event has grown to include families and friends, fostering a sense of community as attendees admire the artwork while enjoying food from local vendors. The Mason High School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) played a pivotal role in organizing this year's showcase, further enhancing the event's community spirit.

In addition to the parking spot celebration, the meeting highlighted the achievements of Allison Sears, an 8th-grade science teacher at Mason Middle School, who was recognized as the regional state board district four teacher of the year. With 26 years of experience, Sears is celebrated for her ability to build meaningful relationships with her students and her commitment to nurturing young minds. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, as she also mentors fellow teachers and contributes to shaping the educational culture within the district.
