During a recent board meeting, the LaGrange Park community celebrated the achievements of its youth, specifically recognizing the LaGrange Park Little League teams that triumphed as the Intermediate 50/70 District Nine Champions. The event highlighted the importance of community support, with board members expressing pride in the young athletes and their accomplishments.
The meeting commenced with a pledge of allegiance, followed by a roll call confirming a quorum. Board President Desipio emphasized the significance of the youth in the community, stating that they are vital assets for the village's future. He encouraged the young athletes to remain engaged in local governance and activities.
The recognition focused on two teams comprising 28 players, with a special acknowledgment of the coaches, parents, and officials who contributed to the players' development. A coach provided a brief overview of the team's journey, noting that this championship marked the first for LaGrange Park since 2018. The team faced a challenging series against LaGrange, ultimately winning the decisive game after a remarkable comeback from a 10-1 deficit, finishing with a score of 14-12. The team also performed commendably at the state tournament, securing third place.
