During last Thursday's board meeting at the Seward District, members approved over $2 million in funding through the Municipal Capital Improvement Program (MCIP). This funding is part of a broader initiative to enhance infrastructure in the region, with significant allocations earmarked for various construction projects.
Patel, a key figure in the meeting, reported that the regional sewer district has secured nearly $5.5 million in grant money for the first phase of construction in Northwest Linden. Additionally, plans are underway to seek further funding from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) for ongoing construction efforts, including a project on West 54th Street, which has already received $525,000 for design work.
The board also discussed the approval of $1.5 million for Kroger phase 3, contributing to a total of approximately $2.67 million in funding for various projects. The council members expressed their enthusiasm for these developments, particularly for the West 54th Street residents who will benefit from the improvements.
In another significant decision, the council adopted Ordinance number 129-24, which authorizes the director of public service to enter into a grant agreement for the Healthy Urban Tree Canopy program. This initiative aims to support reforestation efforts at Marlborough Park and was passed under suspension of the rules to meet an urgent application deadline.
The meeting concluded with unanimous support for the proposed measures, reflecting a strong commitment to enhancing community infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
