The East Wenatchee campus has made significant strides in expanding healthcare services, particularly in dental and behavioral health, according to a recent government meeting. The newly opened medical, dental, and behavioral health building has exceeded staffing expectations, achieving full capacity within four months instead of the anticipated year. This facility has already provided dental services to over 900 new adult Medicaid patients, addressing a critical access issue in the community.
Plans are underway to further enhance behavioral health services with the construction of a new building set to double the space for the behavioral health team, expected to open in January 2025. This expansion aims to recruit additional behavioral health providers to meet the growing demand.
In addition to the new building, the existing facility will be repurposed as an Express Care center to accommodate urgent care needs. The organization is also working on remodeling a leased building to expand its substance use disorder program, which currently has six therapists, with plans to increase that number to eight. This initiative reflects a commitment to addressing the pressing need for substance use treatment in the region.
The clinical outreach team continues to engage with neighboring communities, providing mobile clinic services to underserved populations, including those in homeless camps. Furthermore, the acquisition of the Craftsman Building on Walla Walla Avenue will facilitate the growth of administrative support for the expanding healthcare services.
Overall, the East Wenatchee campus is poised for continued growth, with a strategic vision aimed at enhancing healthcare access for the residents of Chelan and Douglas County.
