In a recent government meeting, officials provided updates on significant construction projects at Lanfear and Springfield High Schools, highlighting progress and upcoming features aimed at enhancing student facilities.
At Lanfear High School, the new entrance is nearing completion, with work on exterior tiles and window installations underway. A canopy is being constructed to provide shelter for students entering the main entrance, particularly during inclement weather. Additionally, slotted parking is being developed along North Grand to improve accessibility.
Meanwhile, Springfield High School is undergoing extensive renovations, including the construction of a new competition gymnasium and atrium. An aerial view showcased the transformation of the site, which was previously cluttered with construction materials. Renovations are also taking place in classrooms, with drywall installation already in progress. Students currently housed in older mobile units will transition back into the renovated classrooms as they become available.
At Southeast High School, the construction of a grand entrance to the athletic field is taking shape, featuring ticket booths, restrooms, and concession stands. A new locker room, team room, and weight room are also part of the project, with roof decking scheduled for installation soon. The track is expected to be ready for use in the spring, allowing for a return to home events.
The meeting concluded with a celebration of the district's advancements in AVID programming, which aims to enhance educational opportunities for students. Officials expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing improvements and their positive impact on the school community.
