The meeting highlighted the anticipated completion of the widening of Daniels Parkway, which is part of the final phase of the 3 Oaks project, expected to be finished by 2027.

Transportation expert Ted from TR Transportation confirmed that the design for Daniels Parkway will feature a diverging diamond interchange, similar to the one currently under construction at Colonial Boulevard. This design aims to enhance traffic flow as the area transitions to accommodate increased residential and commercial development.

Board members expressed support for mixed-use developments, emphasizing their potential to alleviate traffic congestion by allowing residents to live closer to their workplaces. One member noted that while Cape Coral has more local amenities, Lehigh residents often commute for work, contributing to heavier traffic. The integration of residential units within mixed-use projects is seen as a strategy to reduce overall travel demand.

The ongoing construction of 3 Oaks Parkway, which will connect Daniels Parkway to Jaleco, was also discussed. This four-lane highway is expected to significantly improve access and traffic conditions in the region. Additionally, plans for widening Interstate 75 are currently in the design phase, further indicating a comprehensive approach to addressing traffic issues.

Concerns from local homeowners regarding traffic and taxes were acknowledged, but officials reassured that future planning would mitigate these issues.
