During a recent government meeting, residents from the Fiddlesticks area voiced their concerns over escalating traffic issues and the impact of ongoing construction on local infrastructure. One long-time resident highlighted the dramatic increase in travel times, noting that what used to be a 15-20 minute commute to Highway 41 has now extended to 30-50 minutes.
The resident emphasized the congestion at the intersection of Daniels Parkway, describing it as \"the most constricted, crowded intersection in almost all of Lee County.\" She pointed out that during peak season, drivers often face multiple traffic light changes just to navigate onto Daniels Parkway, with many cars blocking the intersection as they attempt to access Interstate 75.
With the potential addition of over 1,200 new homes in the area, the resident expressed concern about the strain this would place on Fiddlesticks Boulevard, which is set to become 3 Oaks Parkway. She estimated that this development could lead to an influx of nearly 2,500 additional vehicles on the road, exacerbating the already dire traffic situation.
Another resident, who recently moved to Fiddlesticks, echoed these sentiments, describing the difficulties of navigating the area, particularly during the busy snowbird season. She noted that while many residents are seasonal, she continues to work full-time and finds the traffic conditions increasingly challenging.
The meeting underscored the urgent need for local officials to address these traffic concerns as community members fear that the ongoing construction and development could deter future residents and impact commercial growth in the area.
