During a recent government meeting in Volusia County, residents voiced significant concerns regarding local issues impacting their lives and businesses.

Frank Kingris, a long-time resident, expressed frustration over ongoing harassment from a neighboring property owner at Hontoon Landing Marina. He detailed a series of violations, including unauthorized construction and disturbances caused by employees living on a houseboat. Kingris urged the county to enforce existing regulations, particularly regarding property setbacks and environmental protections, stating that the situation has turned his once peaceful home into a distressing environment.

Zoltan Caracas, owner of Daytona Shirt Shop, highlighted the detrimental effects of construction at the nearby 92 beach ramp, which has severely restricted access to his store. He reported an alarming 80% to 100% decline in business due to the isolation caused by the construction barriers and the closure of beach access. Caracas requested financial assistance from the county to help mitigate the losses incurred during the eight-month construction period.

Sam Tedros, owner of Sam's Coal Fired Pizza, also raised concerns about the impact of street closures on his business. He noted that prior assurances about maintaining partial access were not upheld, leading to significant disruptions as the high season approaches.
