In a recent government meeting, the Community Action Council outlined an ambitious initiative aimed at improving the lives of Lacey's most vulnerable residents, particularly those experiencing homelessness or at risk of housing insecurity. The project, set to launch on October 1, will introduce two full-time case managers trained in trauma-informed housing-first practices, dedicated to providing personalized support to clients.
The initiative emphasizes a comprehensive approach to address both immediate and long-term needs. Key components include weekly outreach activities, drop-in services, and emergency rental assistance, all designed to engage with Lacey's homeless population and connect them to essential resources such as shelter and job training programs.
The outreach team will divide Lacey into four zones, rotating coverage weekly to identify high-priority areas and build relationships with residents. Currently, the program serves 50 individuals through case management, with plans to expand this number significantly.
The project is rooted in a client-centered philosophy, prioritizing feedback from those served to ensure the program remains responsive and effective. The Community Action Council aims to create a sustainable pathway toward improved quality of life for Lacey's residents, reinforcing their commitment to addressing the complex needs of the community.
As the initiative progresses, the council will continue to assess its impact and adapt its services to better serve the local population.
