In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the upcoming avocado energy storage project, which is set to enhance clean energy infrastructure in the region. The project will span across the Dominguez Channel and intermodal facility, extending north to connect with the Hinson substation and Southern California Edison (SCE) facility.

Scheduled for completion by mid-2026, the project aims to provide significant energy benefits, particularly as it coincides with the upcoming Olympics. The energy generated will be sold to Southern California and San Diego, with Clean Power designated as the off-taker.

The initiative is expected to yield substantial economic benefits for the city, including increased sales and property tax revenues, as well as job creation during the installation and construction phases. The project is being developed by Arrevon, an independent power producer known for its solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects across California and the western United States.

During the meeting, council members acknowledged the project's potential impact and welcomed questions from attendees, indicating a collaborative approach to community engagement. The discussions reflect a growing commitment to renewable energy solutions and economic development within the region.
