In a recent meeting, the Berkeley County School District celebrated the remarkable achievements of its students in various artistic and academic competitions. Notably, 13 students from the district received regional Gold Key Awards from Scholastic, with three advancing to win National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Mikaela Copas from Cane Bay High School earned a gold medal for her sculpture titled \"DaBaby and Little Baby,\" which will be exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City later this fall.

Additionally, Goose Creek High School students Connor Poss and Bridal Herrera were recognized for their poetry, each receiving national silver medals. Poss's poem, \"The Woman in the Mirror,\" and Herrera's two pieces, \"Bridal Guide for a Yellow Stray\" and \"To Shed Skin,\" were showcased digitally in July.

The meeting also highlighted the success of Berkeley County high schools at the National Senior Beta Convention, where they collectively won 16 awards, competing against 22,000 students from 18 states. Notable winners included Luke Carver from Goose Creek High, who secured first place in the on-site painting division, and Kiel Zane Bongalanta, who excelled in the spelling bee.

Furthermore, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter at Berkeley High School achieved significant recognition, winning 28 awards, including 15 first-place finishes at the state convention. Students were acknowledged for their accomplishments in various categories, showcasing the depth of talent within the district.
