During a recent government meeting, officials discussed several budget amendments and transfer requests, highlighting the allocation of unanticipated revenue and the needs of various departments.
The meeting opened with a proposed budget amendment, labeled as number 264, which formalized the receipt of $1,100 in unbudgeted revenue. This funding was allocated to cover travel and training expenses for the 2023 KEMA conference, aimed at enhancing public safety training. The amendment received unanimous approval from the commissioners.
Following this, the county treasurer's office presented a series of transfer requests totaling $16,213.60. These funds were earmarked for various purposes, including the preparation of the 2025 tax statement and other miscellaneous budget items. The breakdown included allocations for contracted services, materials and supplies, and postage.
The maintenance department also requested a significant transfer of $45,000, which would fund employee wages, minor and major equipment purchases, and necessary repairs, including air conditioning work and a new mower. This request was deemed straightforward by the commissioners.
Additionally, the domestic relations department sought a transfer of $3,821.22 from their contingency funds, primarily for office supplies and contract services. The courts submitted a request for a $65,100 transfer into subscriptions, while the district attorney's office requested a $750 transfer for materials and supplies.
Lastly, a transfer of $12,600 from the ARPA account to support other governmental needs was also discussed. All requests were met with approval, reflecting a collaborative effort to address departmental needs and ensure effective budget management.
