Burkett reported that the billboard, constructed to maximum height regulations set by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), inadvertently obstructed the IHOP's signage.
To resolve this issue, Burkett collaborated with IHOP owner Mr. Hakim, who was unable to attend the meeting due to weather conditions. The two reached an agreement to relocate the IHOP sign, enhancing visibility for both establishments. Burkett committed to funding a new, state-of-the-art sign for IHOP, which will maintain the same dimensions as the current one but will feature a fresh design and improved structural integrity.
The proposal was met with enthusiasm from council members, who recognized the potential benefits for local businesses and community visibility. Councilman Campos motioned for approval, which was seconded by Councilman Martinez. The motion passed unanimously, allowing the sign relocation to proceed.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the preliminary acceptance of public improvements at the Poss Landing Subdivision, located at 7213 Hebner Road. Public Works Director Melinda Morts provided an overview of the subdivision's approval process, which began in July 2024 with the planning and zoning commission.
