Residents of the Springbrook neighborhood expressed significant concerns during a recent government meeting regarding a proposed multifamily development at the intersection of Alex Bell and Wilmington Pike. Ann Cherry, a local resident, highlighted the potential traffic impact of adding 300 to 330 new rental units to an already congested area, which currently has 670 rental units. She noted that the intersection is already strained, with traffic from nearby commercial developments including two Kroger stores, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Costco.

Cherry's calculations suggested that the proposed development could increase daily traffic by over 1,100 vehicles, exacerbating existing congestion on the two-lane Wilmington Pike. She emphasized the need for careful consideration of traffic flow and safety, particularly given the involvement of multiple government jurisdictions—Sugar Creek Township, the city of Bellbrook, and Centerville—each with its own interests in the area.

Pamela Ring, another resident, echoed these concerns, citing her experience in property management and the challenges of traffic in the vicinity. She expressed disbelief at the proposal, stating that the intersection is already difficult to navigate and that adding more apartments would further complicate the situation.

Dorinda Reese, a long-time Centerville resident, urged city officials to consider the community's apprehensions about the development, particularly regarding the reputation of the developer, Continental Properties, which has faced criticism and legal issues in the past. She also raised concerns about the strain on local infrastructure, including police and fire services, as well as the potential impact on the city's budget and resources.

The meeting underscored a growing unease among residents about the proposed development's implications for traffic, safety, and community integrity, as they await further discussions and decisions from local government officials.
