In a recent government meeting, officials unveiled plans for a new aquatic facility designed to enhance community access and safety while promoting recreational activities for all ages and abilities. The new facility will be located west of Internal Park Road, strategically positioned to avoid floodplain risks, ensuring longevity and ease of maintenance.
The design features a 5,000-square-foot pool area that includes a zero-depth entry section, making it accessible for individuals with disabilities. The facility will also incorporate a dual slide and an aquatic play structure, catering to younger visitors and providing a safe environment for swimming lessons. Notably, the pool's design allows for flexible programming, accommodating larger group activities.
The building will include separate men's and women's locker rooms, family restrooms, and a concessions area accessible from both the pool and park sides. This design aims to facilitate ease of use for families, particularly those with children of different genders. Additionally, a large mechanical room will allow for efficient maintenance operations without disrupting pool activities.
Parking improvements are also part of the project, with 25 new stalls being added to enhance accessibility. Pathway connections will link the new facility to existing park amenities, encouraging greater utilization of the area.
The project not only aims to provide a modern aquatic experience but also focuses on environmental considerations, with plans to restore the site of the old pool into usable green space after its demolition. This initiative reflects a commitment to community engagement and the promotion of healthy, active lifestyles.
