In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the successful development of a new multifamily housing project by DHIC, which received substantial financial support from local and federal sources. The project, which cost over $48 million, was bolstered by contributions of $12,286 per unit from the town and $29,268 per unit from Wake County, alongside federal tax credit equity amounting to $86,109 per unit.
The new housing units are available for rent at prices ranging from $1,293 to $1,550 per month. The town's investment in the project exceeded $2 million, while Wake County contributed approximately $4.8 million. Visuals presented during the meeting showcased the high-quality construction and attractive furnishings of the property, as well as community amenities like a playground.
Looking ahead, officials also highlighted a proposed project in the pipeline: Abbey Spring, which aims to develop 84 additional multifamily units. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to address housing needs in the area, emphasizing the collaboration between local government and developers to enhance community living standards.
