Various initiatives, including salsa sales, mattress sales, and candy bar sales, have collectively raised approximately $45,100 over the past two years. Notably, an annual jazz dinner dance contributed around $25,100 last year alone. The jazz band has also performed at local events, further supporting their fundraising goals, although they emphasize that these performances are not primarily for monetary gain.
Concerns were raised regarding the rising costs associated with transportation, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers expressed skepticism about future trips, such as a planned visit to Disney, being more affordable, citing ongoing increases in busing expenses.
The meeting also touched on the current state of the marching band, which has seen slow growth since the pandemic, now comprising 55 members. Despite the challenges, there has been a marginal increase in participation each year.
