In a recent government meeting, Oldham County Clerk Amy Alby provided an update on the upcoming election, emphasizing the importance of early voting and voter registration. Alby announced that a postcard detailing voting opportunities will be mailed to every household in Oldham County during the first full week of October, as the State Board of Elections anticipates a significant voter turnout.
Key highlights from Alby's presentation included the introduction of a second early voting location at Crestwood Baptist Church, in addition to the John Black Center. Voters are encouraged to take advantage of early voting to reduce lines on Election Day. The early voting period will feature six days of excused voting, followed by three days of no-excuse voting.
Alby reminded residents that the deadline to register or update voter registration is 4 PM on October 7. Voters can register in person at the LaGrange office or online at govote.ky.gov. Additionally, an absentee ballot portal will open on September 21 for those unable to vote in person.
To facilitate the voting process, Alby confirmed that there will be nine voting locations on Election Day, with 82 clerks available to assist voters. She also mentioned efforts to engage high school students in the electoral process through voter registration drives at local high schools.
Alby plans to return in two weeks for another update as the election approaches, reinforcing the county's commitment to ensuring a smooth voting experience for all residents.
