Both locations are designed to improve organization within the camps by using eco-blocks to delineate individual campsites, which is expected to reduce spillover issues and facilitate easier cleanup operations for public works staff.

The proposed plans include the installation of eight-foot fencing and enhanced security measures, such as lighting and video surveillance, to deter unwanted behavior and protect city property. The budget for the Aldermill site is estimated at approximately $188,000, while the public works site is projected to cost around $311,000. These budgets account for necessary infrastructure improvements, including road grading and the installation of gates.

Council members acknowledged that while the new sites would provide some relief to nearby residents and businesses, they would not completely eliminate the proximity of the camps to these areas. The discussions also touched on the importance of maintaining a balance between providing necessary services to campers and addressing community concerns.
