To sustain this initiative, the district is advocating for capital funding to support a comprehensive hardware sustainability plan. This plan aims to replenish and refurbish technology over time, ensuring that students have reliable devices for both classroom and remote learning.

During the meeting, IT Director David Hop presented a detailed overview of the district's device refresh cycle. He explained that each student is assigned a specific device, with a systematic approach to replacing older machines. The refresh cycle is designed to replace approximately 3,000 devices annually, based on a four-year lifecycle for each device. Currently, the district is in good shape with elementary school devices, allowing for a reprieve in immediate replacements.

The capital budget request includes four key categories: student devices, teacher devices, networking hardware, and infrastructure improvements. Notably, the district is benefiting from federal reimbursements through its Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which allows for significant cost savings on equipment purchases.
