During a recent government meeting, the Monte Vista City Council approved the renewal of the airport lease operating contract for 2024, with a significant amendment regarding the signatory. The council addressed concerns raised by Councilman Howard about the contract being signed by the correct representative of Elvin Aviation LLC, rather than an individual from Florida Power & Light (FPL).
The council unanimously agreed to amend the motion to ensure that the contract reflects the correct title of Jed Elvin Phillips, the operating manager of the LLC. The final vote resulted in a 4-1 approval, with one council member abstaining.
In addition to the contract discussion, the city clerk provided updates on upcoming events, including the Colorado Municipal League (CML) fall district meeting scheduled for September 17 in Lahara. Council members were invited to attend, with the city covering their costs, while spouses could join for a fee. The clerk also noted that the court date has been rescheduled to September 25, with a docket of approximately 45 cases, including two traffic trials.
The meeting highlighted the council's commitment to ensuring proper governance and transparency in city contracts, as well as keeping members informed about civic events and legal proceedings.
