In a recent government meeting, officials outlined several upcoming community events and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability and neighborhood engagement.

On November 9th, residents will have the opportunity to dispose of old electronics, tires, textiles, and paper at a recycling event held at the transfer station located at 1426 Commerce from 9 AM to noon. This initiative is part of a broader effort to encourage responsible waste management within the community.

Additionally, Garland Sanitation is offering a series of composting classes scheduled for September 21, October 5, October 19, and November 2. The meeting also highlighted the annual Fall Fest, set for September 21, which includes the popular Guzzler Run, combining running with local brews. National Night Out is scheduled for October 1, with neighborhood events potentially taking place on the preceding Saturday. The Office of Neighborhood Vitality will provide resources for these gatherings.

A Tri-City cleanup event involving Plano, Dallas, and Rowlett is planned for October 5 at the Hellotemple, where tire collection will also be facilitated. This collaborative effort aims to enhance community cleanliness and environmental stewardship.

Lastly, the annual Free Tree Giveaway, sponsored by Parks and Garland Power and Light, will take place on November 2. Registration for this popular event will open online at 9 AM, reflecting the community's strong interest in enhancing local green spaces.
