During a recent government meeting, plans for the upcoming Halloween event in Centerville were discussed, highlighting a series of engaging activities aimed at community participation. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, from 6 PM to 9 PM, with a rain date set for the following Sunday, October 27, adjusted to 5 PM to 8 PM due to school night considerations.
The centerpiece of the evening will be a screening of \"Hocus Pocus 2\" behind the courthouse, following last year's successful showing of the first film. Organizers are also planning a costume contest with four categories: children under 11, teens aged 12 to 17, adults, and a pet contest, although the latter will be approached with more sensitivity this year to ensure the comfort of participating animals.
In addition to the film and costume contest, the event will feature a spooky scavenger hunt tailored for different age groups, live music from local artists, and food and craft vendor booths. The committee emphasized the importance of better coordination with vendors this year, offering them the opportunity to remain for the evening festivities after Centerville Day.
Other planned activities include a costume parade, free arcade games, and face painting, with a dedicated first aid tent and ambulance on site to ensure safety. The meeting concluded with a call for community involvement and support for the event, which aims to build on last year's success and foster a sense of togetherness in Centerville.
