In a recent government meeting, officials discussed plans to secure $1 million in funding for traffic signal detection improvements across the city. The initiative aims to address an estimated $8 million backlog in detection repairs as part of the Roadway Traffic Operations Program (RTOP). The funding will target areas that have not previously received federal assistance, including Old Shell Road, Dolphin Street, and Cottage Hill, with a focus on extending services into annexed regions like Spring Hill Avenue and Midtown.
Additionally, several resolutions were approved during the meeting, including a purchase order for escalator motor repairs at the convention center amounting to $49,828, and a $25,300 order for aluminum traffic signal generator enclosures. Other notable approvals included a $126,000 renewal for data security backup services and a $71,559.10 renewal for learning performance management software. A significant investment of $1,169,392 was also approved for new equipment for street sweepers to enhance public services.
These discussions and approvals reflect the city's ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure and public safety through strategic funding and resource allocation.
