During a recent government meeting, Lawanna Green introduced a new digital curriculum platform called Craver, designed to enhance social skills education for elementary students. The program offers ready-made lessons that cover essential topics such as responsibility, behavior management, and self-regulation, aligning with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) standards.
Green explained that Craver is structured to support various instructional levels, providing resources for whole group (Tier 1), small group (Tier 2), and individual (Tier 3) interventions. This flexibility allows counselors and teachers to address the diverse needs of students effectively. The platform is particularly beneficial for schools with limited counseling staff, as it enables teachers to implement consistent character education across classrooms.
The lessons incorporate engaging elements such as music, games, and videos, making the learning experience interactive. Teachers can also track student progress through data collection features, allowing for targeted interventions based on individual performance.
Addressing concerns about compliance with educational regulations, Green assured attendees that the program does not promote indoctrination and adheres to appropriate educational standards. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further investigate whether student data can be carried over from year to year, ensuring continuity in support as students progress through grades.
