During a recent government meeting, city officials outlined significant developments in local parks and recreational facilities, emphasizing enhancements aimed at community accessibility and engagement.

The discussion highlighted the addition of various amenities at Pavilion Park, including pickleball courts, a splash pad, basketball courts, and a fully accessible ADA playground designed to accommodate children with disabilities. This initiative follows feedback from community members, ensuring that the playground is genuinely inclusive for all children, including those who use wheelchairs.

Plans for Hunters Creek Park were also discussed, with the continuation of a walking path intended to facilitate access for families attending soccer events. This improvement aims to enhance the experience for those who may have mobility challenges.

Star River Walk will see the installation of a permanent restroom facility, replacing temporary Porta Potties, alongside an expansion of parking space to better serve visitors.

Additionally, the city is set to utilize open space near the Star Cemetery for recreational purposes, with plans to develop it into a park for sports programs. The cemetery, which does not anticipate needing the land for several years, has agreed to allow the city to proceed with this project.

The meeting also touched on the establishment of Roselands Park, a seven-acre area leased from the school district for a nominal fee. This park will serve the local neighborhood, with initial plans for landscaping and irrigation.

Finally, a new community center is in the works at the River House complex, designed to resemble a rustic barn to reflect the city's heritage. This center is expected to enhance community engagement and provide additional recreational opportunities.
