The meeting also featured a significant discussion on the Hilltop Road sidewalk project, aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and connectivity. Currently, a gap exists on the east side of Hilltop Road between Tallman Drive and Narrow Pine Parkway, where residents have been walking on grass due to the absence of a sidewalk. The project, which includes the installation of approximately 1,900 linear feet of sidewalk and a 500-foot masonry landscape wall, has been in coordination with the Hidden River homeowners association for over a year.

The council reviewed bids from eleven contractors, with ABC Asphalt of Brighton emerging as the lowest responsible bidder at $557,598, significantly under the engineer's estimate of $620,000. The project is expected to be completed by December 2024. Council members praised the contractor's previous work and expressed enthusiasm for the project, particularly given its proximity to an elementary school where children currently navigate a social trail.

Councilor Hefta emphasized the importance of improving safety and connectivity in the community, while other members echoed support for the project, highlighting its necessity for local residents. The council's commitment to enhancing infrastructure reflects a proactive approach to addressing community needs and ensuring pedestrian safety.
