Brian Charles Brainerd, who sought a pardon for past offenses related to addiction and domestic violence, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to demonstrate his transformation over the past decade. He detailed his recovery from addiction, stable employment for seven years, and a supportive family life, including a new marriage and children who work alongside him. Panel members acknowledged his progress and the importance of addressing past domestic violence charges, ultimately voting unanimously to grant him a pardon.

Dennis Broadnax also received a pardon, reflecting on his youth and the poor choices that led to his convictions. He has since dedicated himself to mentoring young people in Bridgeport, Connecticut, working with local organizations to provide guidance and support. His community involvement and the positive impact he has made were recognized by the board, which voted in favor of his pardon after confirming that victims of his past offenses supported his application.

Shanae Coley, a mother of four, shared her journey of sobriety since 2017 and her aspirations to become a registered nurse. Despite her past struggles, she is currently employed in a recovery network program, helping others facing similar challenges. The board noted her commitment to personal growth and her desire to be a positive role model for her children, leading to a unanimous decision to grant her pardon as well.

The meeting underscored the board's focus on rehabilitation and the potential for individuals to reintegrate into society positively, as evidenced by the successful applications of Brainerd, Broadnax, and Coley.
