During a recent government meeting, Victor Ramos, a member of the Transportation Planning Organization Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (TPO BPAC), provided an update on community safety initiatives in Deltona. He highlighted the successful distribution of 65 fitted bicycle helmets to children at a summer camp, as well as an event in collaboration with the local library where 105 students received helmets. Ramos emphasized the importance of safety and expressed enthusiasm for future events planned for West Crow.

Althea King also addressed the meeting, reflecting on the recent 25th anniversary celebration of the Jamaica Independence event in West Carl, which attracted a strong turnout despite inclement weather. She thanked Commissioner Roitzer for attending and noted the community spirit fostered by the event, which included free food and entertainment.

Additionally, King announced an upcoming luncheon organized by the West Volusia NAACP Women’s Committee, scheduled for October 18 at 11:30 a.m. The event aims to raise awareness about domestic violence and will honor two women survivors with scholarships. King extended an invitation to all commissioners and the mayor to attend and support the initiative.
