The council also declared the property as surplus and authorized its lease to Smith and Henze Affordable Group. This decision aims to transform the site, which has been viewed as a blight in the neighborhood, into a supportive housing project for veterans and individuals transitioning from homelessness. During the meeting, Councilwoman Broughton raised a question regarding the current state of the property and its existing units, noting that there were two letters of interest received for the site.
