During a recent government meeting, the agenda was adopted without any adjustments, with all members present except for Trustee Ashby, who attended via Zoom due to health concerns. The meeting began with a reminder for attendees to maintain safety by staying behind designated areas while taking photos.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding achievements by staff and students from South High School. Kate Tejen, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) advisor, introduced Neil Hushbeck, a senior who excelled at the state and national levels. Hushbeck won first place in three events at the state competition, qualifying him for nationals in Florida. He chose to compete in the Public Service Announcement category, where he created a 30-second video on FBLA. His efforts earned him a first-place score of 95 in the preliminary round and a fifth-place finish overall among over 100 competitors at the national level, scoring 92 in the finals.
The meeting underscored the importance of recognizing student achievements and fostering a supportive community within the educational system.
