A government meeting focused on the proposed development of 80 townhome units at the southwest corner of Cullum Road and 54th Avenue has moved forward, with city staff recommending approval of the site plan. The project, part of the larger Main Street initiative, aims to enhance the existing infrastructure in the area.
City staff confirmed that the site plan complies with the Main Street at Coconut Creek Planned Mixed-Use Development District (PMDD) and the city’s land development code. They noted that the project aligns with the city’s comprehensive plan and meets the necessary site plan review requirements. However, staff withdrew one condition related to specific Development Review Committee (DRC) comments, stating that the applicant had either addressed the issues or that the comments were no longer applicable.
Public involvement remains a key aspect of the project, with the applicant continuing to hold public input meetings. Although attendance has been low, with only one participant at the most recent meeting, another session is scheduled for November. This ongoing engagement aims to ensure community feedback is considered throughout the development process.
The applicant, represented by Christina Malenki of Miskull Backman, provided an overview of the project, emphasizing its compliance with regional development rights and its integration into the broader Main Street project. The proposed site plan is part of a designated townhouse block within the PMDD, which has allocated a total of 100 units for this area.
As the project progresses, updates on public meetings and further developments will be provided to keep the community informed.
