The representative assured that any repairs needed for the carts would be handled at no charge, while replacement costs apply only if a cart is lost.

The meeting also highlighted the exclusive nature of the waste management contract, which mandates that all businesses and residents within the city utilize the designated provider. This exclusivity ensures standardized pricing based on container size and service frequency, with the representative noting that the city does not currently charge franchise fees.

Concerns were raised regarding compliance with city ordinances, particularly the requirement for commercial dumpsters to be enclosed. Officials discussed the need for better communication between waste management and city departments to address violations and ensure compliance. The representative offered to assist in drafting letters to businesses that may be violating the franchise agreement by using non-compliant dumpsters.

As the council deliberates on the renewal, they will consider the proposed rate adjustments, which have historically been set at a 3% increase annually. However, due to recent inflationary pressures, the representative indicated that a more significant adjustment may be necessary to sustain service levels.
