During a recent board meeting, the York High School community celebrated the remarkable achievements of its students at the 2024 FCCLA National Leadership Conference held in Seattle, Washington. Two standout students, Madeline Valesky and Madison Kleine, were recognized for their exceptional performances in their respective competitions. Valesky earned a silver medal in the fashion construction level three star event, showcasing her creativity and technical skills in garment design. Meanwhile, Kleine received a bronze medal in the food innovations level two star event, where she impressed judges with her original food product development, including a prototype and a comprehensive marketing strategy.
The board expressed pride in these accomplishments, highlighting the dedication and support from teachers, mentors, and families that contributed to the students' success. The meeting also acknowledged the achievements of students in the PTA Reflections Cultural Arts program. Evelyn Black from Field Elementary School received a state honorable mention in dance choreography, while Isla Reedy from Sandberg Middle School was honored at the national level in literature, receiving a merit award bronze and a state award of artistic distinction.
The board emphasized the importance of these programs in fostering creativity and talent among students, with a total of 285 entries submitted at the state level. Only 223 students from 45 state PTA congresses were selected for national recognition, underscoring the significance of the awards received by Reedy and Black. The board extended heartfelt congratulations to all participants, their families, and the educators who supported them, reinforcing the community's commitment to celebrating student achievements.
