During a recent government meeting, community member James Baker raised concerns about persistent potholes on Green Street, highlighting the hazards they pose as the school year approaches. Baker noted that despite previous repairs, the potholes have re-emerged, exacerbated by recent storms and infrastructure work that damaged the road surface. He emphasized the urgency of addressing these issues before students return to school.
Following Baker's remarks, the council shifted focus to financial matters, specifically regarding a reimbursement to the Golden Leaf Foundation. The town received notification of an overpayment of $21,638 related to a site development grant for the Nashville Business Center. The overpayment was attributed to a calculation error during the final disbursement process.
Finance Director Tressa Rudd recommended that the town repay the overage to maintain a good standing with the foundation. The council agreed to use proceeds from the recent sale of a property, known as Lot Four, to cover the reimbursement. A motion to approve the budget amendment for this reimbursement was unanimously passed.
The meeting concluded with a return to discussions on zoning and ordinances, with the council continuing its efforts to update the conditional rezoning regulations.
