During a recent meeting of the Board of Public Works, significant progress was made on a community project funded entirely by donations. An anonymous donor has committed to financing the project, having already contributed $5,000 earlier this year and expressing readiness for additional financial support in the coming months. The project is set for completion by May 1, pending the board's approval to award the necessary permissions.
The meeting also featured a session of the finance committee, where members approved the minutes from the previous meeting and discussed several notable donations to the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department. Among the contributions, the Friends of Parks and Recreation and Enchantment in the Park each donated $10,000 as part of their final installments for the Beach House renovation project.
Additional donations included $360 from the Riverside Disc Golf Club for improvements to the Riverside Park disc golf course, $1,000 from GFL Environmental for recycling carts at special events, and $4,000 from the West Bend Friends of Park and Recreation to provide meals during the 2024 Dirty Ninja Mud Run for kids. This last donation was highlighted not only for its monetary value but also for the extensive volunteer efforts involved in serving over 3,000 meals during the event.
The committee expressed gratitude for the community's generosity and the dedication of volunteers, emphasizing the importance of these contributions in enhancing local parks and recreational facilities.
