In a recent government meeting, a concerned parent addressed the ongoing challenges surrounding the Clinton High School softball facility, highlighting the significant delays and incomplete aspects of the project. Nearly two years ago, the parent, alongside their daughter, initially raised concerns about the facility's development and the potential for a lawsuit that could have cost millions. However, they opted against legal action, hoping for a resolution that would benefit the community.
As the high school softball team prepares to send its players off to college, the parent expressed frustration over the limited use of the newly constructed field, which has only been utilized for a single game by the high school team and four by the middle school team. The parent noted that while a hitting facility is nearing completion, several critical components remain unfinished, including a concession stand, locker room, weight room, and equipment storage.
The parent emphasized the urgency of completing these facilities before the upcoming season, which begins shortly after the new year. They indicated that the concession stand should be operational by January, as it is expected to be under contract soon. However, the locker room and other facilities have yet to be bid on, with no drawings produced since January.
The parent concluded by stating that they have dedicated countless hours to monitoring the project's progress, underscoring the community's commitment to ensuring that young women have access to adequate sports facilities. The ongoing delays and unresolved issues continue to raise concerns about the future of the softball program at Clinton High School.
