In a recent government meeting, Superintendent Doctor Valley highlighted several noteworthy achievements and ongoing projects within the Lancaster School District.
First, he celebrated the accomplishments of Crystal Romano, a Lancaster High School alumna who represented Puerto Rico at the Paris Olympics. Romano, who graduated in 2018 and later attended Ohio State University, competed in swimming events, finishing 21st overall in the Olympics after placing 12th in the 200 individual medley and 11th in the 400 individual medley at the World Championships. Valley praised her dedication and the support of her late father, who sacrificed much to help her pursue her athletic dreams.
Valley also recognized Joe Andreessen, another Lancaster graduate, who has begun training camp with the Buffalo Bills. Described as one of the best high school football players in the area, Andreessen's journey to the professional level was commended as a testament to hard work and perseverance.
In addition to these athletic highlights, the superintendent provided an update on significant capital construction projects across the district. He reported extensive renovations and improvements at all three schools, funded by millions of dollars in capital construction investments. Key developments include the removal of temporary classrooms, upgrades to parking facilities, installation of permanent power and data infrastructure at the high school, and the replacement of windows and interior finishes across various school buildings.
These updates reflect the district's commitment to enhancing educational facilities and supporting student achievements in both academics and athletics.
