In a recent government meeting, the Revere Commission reviewed a proposal to expand an existing parking lot at Seven Franklin Street, which is located within a 100-foot buffer zone. Rich Kirby from LEc Environmental presented the notice of intent application, filed on July 24, detailing plans for the nearly two-acre site situated in the northern part of town.
The project aims to increase the impervious area by over 9,100 square feet, primarily to enhance access to a warehouse and provide additional parking for vehicles and equipment. The site currently features a mix of paved and gravel areas, with existing structures including wood frame buildings and a metal warehouse. The proposal includes the installation of new pavement and erosion control measures, such as compost socks and catch basin inlet protection, to safeguard adjacent wetlands during construction.
Giovanni Fodera, the project engineer, outlined a comprehensive stormwater management design that adheres to Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) standards. The design includes a sediment forebay and a wet basin to manage stormwater runoff, ensuring that peak runoff rates are reduced and water quality is treated effectively.
Commission members expressed support for the project, noting the improvements it would bring to the property and the surrounding neighborhood. They emphasized the importance of ongoing inspections during construction to maintain environmental protections. After a thorough discussion, the commission unanimously approved the notice of intent, marking a significant step forward for the project.
