In a recent government meeting, officials approved two significant sole source procurement agreements aimed at enhancing local law enforcement capabilities.
The first agreement involves the procurement of an automatic license plate reader (LPR) system from Shiner Tech, a unique product developed in Virginia. This system will be integrated into the existing LPR framework and is designed for deployment at various static locations throughout Kerr County. Officials noted that this technology is rare, with the county potentially being one of the first in Texas to implement it. The motion to approve the procurement was met with unanimous support.
The second procurement approval was for Magnet Forensics, which recently acquired GrayKey, a tool used in digital forensics to extract data from mobile devices, particularly Apple products. This software is critical for law enforcement's ability to access and analyze digital evidence. The motion to approve this procurement was also passed without opposition.
Both agreements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and operational efficiency within local law enforcement agencies, leveraging advanced technology to address modern challenges.
