It was revealed that 75% of this funding, approximately $400 million, was allocated to local governments. However, Minneapolis, the largest city in the state, received only $18 million, which constitutes about 4% of the total funds distributed.

Councilwoman Mwansi expressed her dissatisfaction with the allocation, questioning the rationale behind such a limited amount for Minneapolis. She highlighted that when combined with grants from Hennepin County and the state of Minnesota, the total funding available to the city could have reached approximately $31 million. This raised further inquiries about the formula used for distributing the funds and the decision-making process that led to Minneapolis receiving a disproportionately low share.

The meeting underscored the need for transparency in the funding distribution process, as officials sought to understand the criteria that determined the allocations. The lack of clarity regarding the funding formula prompted calls for a review to ensure that future distributions are equitable and reflective of the needs of the state's largest urban center.
