The plan includes a new entrance, improved traffic flow for drop-offs, and enhanced outdoor play areas, all while preserving the original 1924 building's facade.

The TSKP team acknowledged the existing building's structural integrity but noted that many of the later additions have not aged well. They emphasized the need for immediate repairs, particularly concerning persistent roof leaks and outdated mechanical systems. The proposed renovations aim to create a modern educational environment that aligns with the school's STEM focus, ensuring that McDonough remains a vital educational resource for the community.
