In a recent government meeting, community members voiced their growing enthusiasm for pickleball, highlighting the sport's increasing popularity amid a surge of new residents. A local resident, who manages a Facebook group with 1,400 members, reported a rise in participation from two to three players daily at the beginning of the year to five to eight now, reflecting the influx of newcomers to the area.

Concerns were raised regarding the construction of new pickleball courts, with residents requesting transparency in the design process. They urged the city to involve pickleball enthusiasts in discussions about the court layouts, emphasizing the importance of accessibility and functionality based on experiences from other locations. The city plans to approve a budget next month, which will allow for the hiring of a design engineering firm to create concept plans, incorporating community feedback.

Additionally, the Stetson Pickleball Club, currently with 30 members and expected to grow to 60, is seeking more playing spaces. Residents suggested painting existing tennis courts at Earl Brown Park with pickleball lines to alleviate overcrowding.

The community also expressed a desire for shaded courts to combat the intense Florida heat, noting that covered facilities would enhance the playing experience and encourage more visitors to the area.
