In the latest government meeting, officials reported a steady increase in building permits, with a total of 852 permits issued for the year, including 121 for the past month. The meeting highlighted two significant pipeline projects: the Creekside Village development, which will feature 199 lots on 80 acres in Batesburg-Leesville, and a smaller project at 800 Lexington Avenue, consisting of 12 lots on 1.95 acres in Kansas City.

The Creekside Village project, developed by Wilkie Development Company, is strategically located near Walmart on East Church Street and Francis Street, falling under Council District Two, represented by Councilman Brigham. Meanwhile, the 800 Lexington Avenue project, developed by Broadbrook Development Company, is situated at the intersection of Bryce Road and Poplar Street in Council District Nine, overseen by Councilman Cullum.

Additionally, the meeting addressed a private road variance request from Beverly Williams, who owns approximately 5.94 acres on Willie Paw Road. The Reeds, who currently reside on the property with an existing mobile home, are seeking to subdivide about two acres for their own use.
