During a recent government meeting, representatives from Vermillion Architects and T3 Global provided updates on the progress of turf field projects at Acadiana High School, Karen Crow High School, and Cecilia High School in Lafayette Parish. David Hamer from Vermillion Architects and Roberto Sanchez from T3 Global reported that significant advancements have been made, with expectations to complete outstanding items by early next week.
At Acadiana High School, the turf has been laid, and the project is nearing completion, pending the installation of drainage systems and grandstands. The team anticipates wrapping up by Monday at the latest. However, they acknowledged delays due to redesigns and supply chain issues, particularly concerning drainage boxes that had a six-week lead time.
Karen Crow High School is also progressing, with turf installation currently at the 50-yard line. The team aims to finish laying the turf by Friday morning, followed by the application of markings and logos. Despite the positive outlook, Sanchez expressed uncertainty about the field being ready for the first home game on September 6, urging the need for a contingency plan.
Concerns were raised by board members regarding the timeline and previous inactivity at Acadiana, especially given the school year has commenced and events have been held at the stadium. The representatives assured the board that crews have been working diligently, often seven days a week, to meet deadlines despite challenging weather conditions.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from the construction teams to ensure that all projects are completed on schedule, emphasizing the importance of these facilities to the community. The board members expressed their appreciation for the efforts made and reiterated their expectation for timely completion.
