In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the capacity and expansion plans for a local water service project that aims to significantly increase customer service capabilities. The project, which involves the servicing of 2,400 lots, has been deemed feasible with minor improvements to an existing 250,000-gallon tank located just north of the site.

Mossy Head Waterworks has confirmed its ability to provide service for the initial phase of the project, which would effectively double its current customer base of 2,400. Concerns were raised regarding the potential impact on existing customers, particularly in relation to the local tax revenue generated by the Love's truck stop. Officials reassured that there would be no adverse effects on current customers, emphasizing that service would continue uninterrupted.

Additionally, discussions highlighted the importance of including reuse water in the expansion plans. During a pre-application meeting with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), officials were informed that any expansion of the sewage plant would likely require the integration of reuse systems. This would allow facilities, such as a nearby golf course currently relying on well water, to transition to using reclaimed water from the sewage plant, thereby promoting sustainable water use in the area.
