In a recent government meeting, officials discussed ongoing rehabilitation efforts for several properties, particularly focusing on the Oak Meadows Apartments located at 1901 Centenary Boulevard. The property, currently under the management of Newbridge Commercial Lending and SVN Oak Realty Advisors, has faced significant challenges, prompting discussions about a potential sale. A prospective buyer has expressed interest in investing approximately $40,000 per unit to restore the apartments, but progress has been slow, leading to the issuance of updated citations by property standards.
City officials noted that the owner has reached out for assistance from the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) to facilitate the cleanup process, although no specific timeline has been established for this intervention. The SPD's experience with similar property sweeps was highlighted as a key factor in ensuring effective remediation.
Additionally, the meeting addressed four properties owned by Amarsh Report Holdings, including Veil Norte and Linwood Homes. City officials met with representatives from Selecta Homes, who are in discussions to potentially purchase these properties. Selecta Homes indicated they would need 30 to 45 days to assess the properties and develop a renovation plan. They aim to secure city approval for their plan, which is a prerequisite for moving forward with the purchase and subsequent renovations.
Officials emphasized the importance of securing the properties and maintaining cleanliness during the interim period before permits are issued. Selecta Homes has committed to deploying over 20 crews to expedite the cleanup process while awaiting further developments. The city remains focused on ensuring that these properties are brought back into commerce and that adequate housing solutions are provided moving forward.
