In a recent government meeting, officials highlighted the success of the local sea turtle swim team, which has made significant strides in its inaugural year. The team focused on enhancing training and programming for its swimmers, resulting in impressive achievements during the competitive season.
Notably, 35 swimmers qualified for state competitions, while eight advanced to regional qualifiers, and 15 participated in the Legends event—a booster-supported initiative aimed at encouraging participation over competition. This event allows swimmers to gain experience, regardless of their competitive times.
The team also hosted three home meets, attracting over 200 swimmers, spectators, and volunteers, showcasing strong community support. Officials emphasized that the success of these events would not have been possible without the dedication of boosters and volunteers, underscoring the importance of community involvement in fostering youth sports programs.
