A proposal for a new 150-foot freestanding wireless tower in Pasco has moved forward following a recent government meeting. The application, designated as project SP 2024-012, was presented by Jessica Pierce, an agent for the applicant, Vertical Bridge. The proposed site is located on the southwest corner of a 158-acre parcel zoned for low-density residential use.
The facility will occupy a 60-foot by 60-foot area within the larger parcel, which is primarily undeveloped and used for agricultural purposes. The project has undergone a public notification process, with notices sent to property owners within 300 feet of the site and published in the Tri City Herald on August 28, 2024.
The staff report, which was admitted into the record during the meeting, recommends approval of the special permit required for the construction of the wireless facility, contingent upon adherence to specific conditions outlined in the report. Notably, an FAA study is currently assessing whether the height of the monopole could pose any air traffic concerns, although the site is outside the airport overlay district.
Pierce confirmed her agreement with the staff report and the proposed conditions of approval, indicating that preparations are underway to meet any additional requirements. The meeting concluded without further questions from the officials, signaling a positive step towards the establishment of the new wireless communications facility in Pasco.
